Ethical & Eco Policy
We make great efforts to be a sustainable, ethical business, and work hard to mitigate our impact on the environment whenever possible.
Doval Studio cares for equality and transparency when it comes to employment and sustainability. We use organic cotton and sustainably sourced paper from fair-trade organisations to ensure all of our partners have a living wage and decent working conditions. We believe strongly in equality of pay and opportunity between gender, race, religion and otherwise.
Sustainable supply chain
Our partners have a screening scheme to their suppliers for compliance with both fair labour and sustainability standards. They look to partner where possible with suppliers who are ISO 14001, ISO 24000 or ISO 26000 compliant. We also actively seek to work with labs who use renewable energy over standard grid electricity.
As a minimum, all our partners must adhere to anti child labour and anti forced labour regulations, as well as providing traceability for all core raw materials.
Eco- friendly policies
Please find some our Eco Friendly accreditation's below:
Most of our prints are made to order, meaning we eliminate waste and the expense of holding stock.
- Sustainably sourced paper
Wood and pulp is sourced from sustainably managed forests. Sustainably-managed forests meet the needs of wildlife while supporting livelihoods and providing many other ecosystem services, such as carbon storage and flood risk mitigation.
- Vegan friendly
We use mainly Hahnemühle and other museum fine art paper with a Certificate of Conformity to show that is it vegan friendly. This means that the paper does not contain raw materials from animal sources or gene-modified sources.
- Eco inks
PRINTS: Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous, toxin-free and vegan friendly. They meet the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications for infant wear, Global Organic Textiles (GOTS-3V), Residues Standard List (RSL) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.
CANVAS: Vegan framed canvas prints made from sustainably sourced materials and printed using water-based inks
All textiles are made to order, meaning we eliminate waste and the expense of holding stock.
The fabric printing company we partner with has recently installed a 'Zero to waste' policy, with a focus on minimizing our environmental impact. This includes sending excess fabric and cutoffs to local charities, schools and educational institutes to be reused. Their paper and ink wastes are currently recycled by professional waste management companies to avoid being sent to landfill. All their machines are fitted with energy saving cut off switches resulting in reduced energy consumption when idle.
They are committed to paying the living wage for staff and being a fair, open and responsible employer. They also invest in the education and training for young artists and students in the arts of textile printing and fabric production.
We use organic cotton whenever possible. Our fabrics are printed in one of the most Eco-friendly way possible, using pigment inks. Our fabric printing requires no water at all in the printing process, and uses around 95% less energy than traditional screen printing. Virtually zero ink waste is created in the process due to accurate discharging of inks onto the fabric. There are no soapy residues or liquid discharges from the production.
Our care labels are non-woven, biodegradable cotton labels of the highest quality. Skin-friendly, soft and sustainable.
All our fabric and home textiles are printed in a 100% renewable electricity powered warehouse in London. The production company we work with sources their fabric bases globally from a number of different suppliers, if you want to know the origins of a particular fabric, let us know!
